Bookham is made up of two parishes, Great and Little Bookham, which can be traced back to 1086 when it was first recorded in The Domesday Book. Bookham nestles between the villages of Effingham to the west and Fetcham and Leatherhead to the east. Well located on the A246 The Bookhams offer easy access to the national rail service at Leatherhead, which provides good lines to Waterloo (in approximately 49 minutes), London Bridge and Victoria. Road communications are excellent with junction 9 of the M25 being 6 miles to the south giving fast access to the national motorway network and both Heathrow and Gatwick airports. The A3 offers good driving into central London and the south coast.

Sole Farm Avenue is a short walk away from the village centre where you can enjoy a diversity of traditional English high street shops including two high quality butchers and a greengrocer. A Tesco and a Sainsbury’s supermarket are located in nearby Leatherhead whilst multiple shopping is also available in Leatherhead, Guildford and Kingston being approximately 4, 13 and 18 miles away respectively.

Leisure activities are readily available within the vibrant local community, which provides opportunities for horse riding, football, tennis and golf at the Leatherhead and Effingham
courses. Bookham is surrounded by ‘the Commons’ natural beauty spots, a great habitat which is home to such rare species as the Great Crested Newt. Close by are the well known Norbury Park, Polesden Lacey, Boxhill and Ranmore Common.

Schools catering for nursery, primary and secondary education are available within the village and nearby. Senior schools include Therfield in Leatherhead and The Howard of Effingham, both of which feature well in the league tables. A short drive away are the well respected Fetcham Village Infant and Oakfield Junior Schools. There are also a number of playgroups catering for pre-school children.
